This training Class on Operationalising Corporate Governance for Founders is designed to provide startup founders with essential knowledge and practical insights into establishing and implementing effective corporate governance practices within their organisations.

Modules

1. Introduction to  Corporate Governance: Participants will gain an understanding of corporate governance and its significance for startups. They will learn about the role of founders in shaping effective corporate governance practices within their organisations.
2. Corporate Governance Framework and Principle: This module explores established corporate governance frameworks, statutory regulations, and guiding principles (e.g., accountability, transparency, fairness, responsibility, and risk management). Participants will learn how to adapt these principles to suit the specific context of startups.
3. Roles and Responsibilities of Founders: Participants will receive an overview of founders' unique roles and responsibilities in corporate governance. They will also learn best practices for effective leadership and oversight.
4. Board of Directors and Advisory Boards: This module covers the formation and structure of boards of directors or advisory boards. Participants will learn how to leverage board expertise and manage board dynamics.
5. Corporate Governance Policies and Procedures: Participants will be introduced to the development and implementation of governance policies, such as codes of conduct, ethics, and conflict of interest. The module will also cover establishing clear decision-making and risk-management procedures.
6. Compliance and Regulatory Requirements: This module will focus on understanding legal and regulatory obligations relevant to startups. Participants will learn how to ensure compliance and adhere to reporting requirements.
7. Shareholder Relations and Communication: This module emphasises building strong relationships with shareholders and stakeholders. Participants will also learn effective communication strategies to promote transparency and trust.
8. Handling Conflicts and Crisis Management: Strategies for resolving conflicts within the organisation will be discussed, along with crisis management and contingency planning.
9. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR): Participants will explore the process of integrating CSR initiatives into the corporate governance framework. The module will address how to balance social impact with financial performance.
