Towards the end of 2020, we came up with some predictions for Intellectual Property (IP) in 2021 based on the occurrences of 2020 and emerging trends at the time. We have analysed some of these predictions with the aim of determining the accuracy of the forecast and assessing the effect that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on Intellectual Property thus far.

The year 2021 was a transitional year for the world as we began to emerge from the uncertainties created by the pandemic. As businesses and global trade began to return to some form of frequency, Intellectual Property concerns and considerations also gained some more prominence and importance as creators and business owners took a more informed approach to exploiting and protecting their intellectual property rights.

We have also put together our outlook for Intellectual Property and what we hope to expect in 2022.
